MZ Agata Zaborska

Agata Zaborska is a researcher at the Department of Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry at the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences. Her scientific interests are focused on contamination of the Arctic marine sediments and the use of radionuclides to study sedimentary processes. She has conducted her research both in the Arctic (Barents Sea, Svalbard) and in the Baltic Sea.

She received a Master's Degree in Geological Oceanography from University of Gdańsk in 2001, a PhD from Institute of Oceanology in 2007. Her PhD thesis was focused on the accumulation rates, burial rates and sources of organic carbon in sediments of the Barents Sea.

In DWARF project she will be involved in tasks in the Work Package 4 (Marine Benthic Fauna). She will focus on calculation of sediment accumulation rates by 210Pb dating method and estimation of bioturbation intensity by 234Th method. She will also work on estimation of organic carbon accumulation and burial rates.
