MZ Marek Zajączkowski

Marek Zajączkowski is an associate Professor at the Department of Marine Ecology at the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences. He is the head of the Laboratory of Paleoceanography. Research in his lab focuses mainly on Foraminifera and their application in the reconstruction of Holocene sea - environmental changes in the Arctic. His research projects are conducted both in the Arctic and in the Baltic Sea. His scientific interests are modern processes of sedimentation, interaction between fresh and salt water and supply of the terrigenous material to the fjords with applications to the Holocene climate changes study.

He received a Master's Degree (1984) and a Ph.D. (2000) from University of Gdańsk and habilitation degree from Institute of Oceanology PAS in 2010. Since 2000 he has been employed at the Department of Marine Ecology, Institute of Oceanology PAN.

In the DWARF project he is involved in the Work Package 5: Paleontological Record of Size Spectra in Holocene. In the DWARF research he is interested in changes of Foraminifera size spectra as a response to the climate cooling and warming over the Holocene.
