WP7: Synthesis of the Results, Transfer of Knowledge and Public Outreach.
Leader: Prof.dr hab. Jan Marcin Węsławski (IO PAN)

WP 7 aims at integrating the DWARF research internally, and at disseminating its results externally, between the potential end-users. It also includes management and communication components.
Data synthesis component will coordinate activities within different WPs, plan the logistics of field and sea expeditions and summarize knowledge gained by the project. We will summarize the results, formulate the conclusions and issue recommendations for science-based management in the Arctic under the climate change. Here we will also organize the data storage, establish data base for the DWARF project, and prepare the procedures for data access in the long term. Knowledge transfer in DWARF is understood as a process of disseminating the scientific knowledge and expertise between the project researchers, professionals and selected groups of stakeholders (e.g., policy-makers, advisory bodies, national polar bodies, research councils, research managers, or conservation groups). The planned actions include publications of scientific papers in well-recognized scientific journals, conference presentations and direct contacts with decision-makers and other stakeholders’ representatives. We will also contribute with DWARF (meta) data to internationally recognized data bases (e.g., OBIS). Public outreach aims to communicate the DWARF objectives and outcomes to the general public. This module will be achieved through a pack of popular science materials available on the project web site. The most prominent actions will include the popular science book and cooperation with schools.
This WP interlinks all other WPs and much of its activities is based on information collected and analysed outside it. WP 7 collects data, compares patterns documented for various taxa and habitats by WP1-WP5, and draws general conclusions. This WP also provides financial and administrative support, and disseminate project outcomes in the areas covered by all other WPs. All partners will be involved in actions undertaken here through a common promotion budget managed by IO PAN
