Distinguishing characteristics
Facial tubercule inconspicuous.
Tentacular cirri without distinct papillae.
Shape of scales papillae.

Species description
Prostomium triangular with a median antenna, a pair of palps and 2 pairs of eyes. Facial tubercule inconspicuous. First segment achaetous, tentacular cirri without distinct papillae. Scales covering dorsal surface completely, scales papillae marginal, slender, short and slightly capitate on anterior segments, elongated and tapering on posterior ones. Notopodial chaetae fine capillaries and geniculate capillaries. Neuropodial chaetae with stout blades, unidentate tips and shafts spinose or smooth.

Size
Up to 5-6 mm, usually less.

Color
Eyes black, prostomiun usually without other pigment, scales evenly pigmented brownish or blackish.

Mobility
Mobile.

Feeding
Carnivore.

Life cycle
Free spawning with planktotrophic larvae.

Distribution
European waters, Norwegian Sea, White Sea.
