Notoproctus oculatus Arwidsson, 1906

Distinguishing characteristics
Head without cephalic plate, rounded.
Pygidial plate small with smooth rim, without notches or crenulation.

Species description
Body long and cylindrical. Head without cephalic plate. Prostomium rounded, ocelli absent. 19-20 chaetigers. Four first segments with 1 or 2 ventral spines, following segments with a row of hooks. One - three pre-pygidial achaetous segment. Anus dorsal to a pygidial plate. Pygidial plate small with smooth rim, without notches or crenulation.

Up to 42 mm.

Circalittoral of the gulf and estuary.

Mobility
Sedentary.

Feeding
Surface deposit feeder.
Grazer.

Distribution
Central Kattegatt - Gullmarfjord - Koster Channel - Skagerrak - Bergen - Nordland, Spitsbergen, West Greenland.
