COSA is designed to improve sustainable use of coastal sandy sea floors by
- Understanding the functioning of sandy sediments and quantifying their biocatalytical function
- Development of ecological quality status indicators and/or developing a transport-reaction model to be used as prognostic tool
- Direct implementation of the results into coastal management concepts via participating environmental agencies
- Increasing awareness of public and policy makers.
- Exchange of knowledge and technologies
