Thallus bushy, dark olive or brown. Branches bent-like, coriaceous, dichotomously branched, with even margins and thickened midrib. Monoecious. Occures on stones, in the lower littoral and sublittoral, everywhere. Common, in some places aboundant. High boreal- Arctic species.
