Lenght: 5-30 cm
Width: 0.3-1 mm

 
Thallus thick filiform, lubricous, cartilagius, olive-brown. main, axis percurrent giving rise to numerous alternate branches. Bark loose, composed of 2-5 celled filaments. Litophyte. Occures in littoral and sublitorral, everywhere. Common, widely distributed, bipolar species.
