Thallus cord-like, elastic, simple, densely, coated of dark brown hairs. Unlike Chorda fylum, paraphyses nad unilocular sporangia of similar height in transverse-section. On stones, in sublittoral, in exposed and sheltered localities. Occuring infrequently, in some places rather aboundant. Boreal- Arctic species.
