Description:

Size: up to 20 mm

Colour: whitish

Head rather short,one pair of corneal lenses

Antenna 1 about half the length of the body, peduncle article 2 much longer and slender than 1; antenna 2 equal to length of 1 in female, longer than body in male

Coxal plate 1 large, broad distally, distal margin rounded and densely setose; two succeeding pairs much smaller, tapering distally; epimeral plate 3 posterodistal angle quadrate or with minute tooth; back broadly rounded, without dorsal setae, in male urosome segment 1 distinctly carinated

Gnathopods poorly subchelate; pereopods 3-4 merus elongate, dactylus equal to length of propodus; pereopods 5-6 carpus longer than two preceding joints combined, dactylus short; pereopod 7 basis narrow, anterior and posterior margins almost parallel, posterior margin slightly concave, distal lobe narrow, ischium, merus and carpus spinose, propodus and dactylus very small; uropod 3 large, reaching well beyond uropods 1 and 2

Telson rounded, cleft far beyond mid-point

 
 
 


Habitat: mud, sandy mud, silt, clay, stones

Mobility:

Feeding: suspension feeder

Distribution: Arctic Ocean, circumpolar, North Pacific, North Atlantic: Greenland, Labrador , Iceland , Spitsbergen, Barents Sea, Kara Sea , Atlantic coast of Europe from Norway to Mediterranean , Adriatic, depths range 10-1525m
