DESCRIPTION

Erect colonies, stem and most branches polysiphonic (Fig.1). Long hydrothecae lack operculum and arise from its own tube, in 4-6 rows longitudinal rows with alternating hydrothecae of adjacent rows, rims are circular, often renovated (Fig.2). Gonothecae borne in hermaphrodite coppiniae.

Circumpolar, northern temperate to Arctic.
