Halecium beani (Johnston, 1838)
DESCRIPTION
Colonies erect, pinnate or shrubby (Fig. 1). Stems and branches polysiphonic (Fig. 2), thining out to end in monosiphonic branchlets. Internodes equal. Hydrotheca nearly sessile, on very short pedicel, alternate and angled outwards below nodes. Rim even, often with several renovations. Gonotheca on short pedicels; male in form of elongate sac, female club-shaped with opening at side, on distinct neck with two protruding polyps (Fig. 3).
