Major fields of scientific interest
This is how we picture and describe ouractivities

Research on speciation of natural
and anthropogenic substances and their transport through bio-geochemical barriers
In particular we
persue the following
subjects:
- carbon
fluxes in the surface and
twiligh zones of the ocean
- geochemistry of heavy metals
- geochemistry of natural
(lignins,
humic
substances)
and anthropogenic (PAH, PCBS, DDT, ClOS) organic substances
- semipermeable membrane devices
(SPMDs)
as
a tool
for studying the bioavailability of organic contaminants (PCBs, PAH,
DDT,
ClOS)
- geochronology of contemporary
events
based
on 210Pb
sediment dating
- multivariate statistical
analysis as a
tool in marine geochemical studies
- investigation of scavenging and sedimentation
processeson the Barents Sea shelf
- dynamics of suspended matter in the
coastal zone
Participation
in international projects and cooperation with institutions abroad
- CABANERA - Carbon fluxes in the northern
Barents Sea (2003 - 2006)
- CARBOOCEAN (FP6 IP) - an
integrated research activity on the marine carbon cycle (2005-2009)
- Eur-OCEANS (FP6 NoE) - EURopean network of excellence for OCean Ecosystems Analysis (2005-2008)
