Questions and comments regarding Marine Chemistry Section
of Polish SCOR should be directed to the Secretary of the Section (mrad@iopan.gda.pl).

General
Marine Chemistry Section is a part of Polish National SCOR.
Marine Chemistry Section creates a platform for
-
discussions on problems arising in the field of marine chemistry, chemical
oceanography, geochemistry and protection of the marine environment against
pollution,
-
exchange of ideas among oceanographers,
It is the aim of the section to promote various forms of co-operation,
and to promote young scientists working the field.
No permanent budget is assigned to the Section.
A chairman elected for a three-year long term (1996-1998), is responsible
for organising activities relevant to the above stated aims.
Within this frame statutory meetings are organized twice a year. Topical
problems are taken up at the meetings. Also a lecture is delivered covering
selected fields of contemporary chemical oceanography. Usually the lecturer
is affiliated with the Section.
One or two Ad hoc meetings devoted to matters to be dealt with
swiftly are organized in-between statutory meetings.
Every second year (1993, 1995, 1997, .... ) a conference " Chemistry,
Geochemistry and Protection of the Marine Environment" is held, devoted
to achievements of marine chemists and oceanographers in Poland.
In the term 1996-1998 there are fifty one members in the Section representing
research institutes and universities from Gdansk area ( 48 ), Szczecin
(2), and Warszawa (1). See the LIST OF MEMBERS at
the end for detailed affiliations.
